Proposed Agenda - Welcome and Introductions - Directors Report - Election of Board of Directors - Other business We'd like to extend a deep appreciation to those who generously donated to the next phase of restoration, slated to begin soon. Funds are now in place to rebuild the north and south porches on the keeper’s house and begin restoration on the boathouse. Congratulations and thank you!
Squirrel Point’s boathouse is of historical note, dating back to an era when the primary form of transport throughout the Kennebec estuary was by water. It was built slanted to the river and includes a railway inside to make it easier to pull a boat out of the water. Its windows, by contrast, were built plumb in order to function properly, and the combination creates a fascinating effect. Boathouses of this type were once plentiful along the Kennebec, but they have now almost entirely disappeared. Volunteers are needed this Saturday, May 13 at Squirrel Point Light to help with spring cleaning! From 9 to noon, help is needed to clip and mow in preparation for summer. From noon to 4, help is needed to load materials and debris onto a boat for transport across the river. BYO lifejacket! Any amount of time is welcome. Please email info@squirrelpoint.org or contact Roman at 443-2423 if you are interested or would like more information. See you there!
