Volunteers needed Friday, Nov. 15 to prep for new footbridge!
We are immensely grateful to all who have supported our ongoing efforts to replace the footbridge so critical to reaching Squirrel Point Light and other properties. We are seeking volunteers on Friday, November 15 to help prepare for the project! After last year’s winter storms, the design was altered to ensure that the new bridge would be more resilient to the elements, almost doubling the cost of the project. With a new plan in place, we’re excited to check a few projects off our list while continuing to fundraise to reach our new goal. On Friday, November 15th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., CSP and The Nature Conservancy in Maine, our partner in this project, will perform trail maintenance to prepare for the new bridge. We will be widening the short stretch of trail from the end of Bald Head Road to the creek in order to accommodate the tractor that will deliver the bridge by spring. We are seeking 10-12 volunteer "brush haulers" anytime between 10 and 3 to clear debris while the trail work is being done. If you can help for even an hour or two, please let us know! To RSVP and for further information, please contact Elisabeth at [email protected]. CSP Annual Meeting, Wed., Nov. 20 Patten Free Library, 33 Summer St, Bath 6:00 p.m. For the first time, we’ll be meeting at the Patten Free Library in Bath. Maine Open Lighthouse Day We were thrilled to welcome 205 people from 16 states and 3 foreign countries in September for Maine Open Lighthouse Day! We’re so happy that you could visit and we loved hearing why you made the trek to Squirrel Point.
