Celebrating Maine Open Lighthouse Day!

9/19/2025

Thank you to all who made the trek to Squirrel Point Light for Maine Open Lighthouse Day on Saturday. We welcomed over 150 visitors from 15 states and two countries, including Bath's Morse High School seniors taking part in a photo shoot, an enthusiastic group from Bowdoin College, ten awesome volunteers, and a handful of well-behaved pups.

One of our volunteers, a frequent guest of light keeper Clarence Skofield and family years ago, led tours of the keeper’s house and shared memories of his visits. Everyone enjoyed reading the well-told stories on the interpretive markers. And we finally got to put our new lighthouse stamp to use!

We appreciate all who came out and learned about what’s next in restoring this historic treasure. We're grateful to all the volunteers who shared their enthusiasm and knowledge with us: John, Barbara, Jennifer, Nick, Vicky, Marty, Carol, Chris, Lew and Caroline. If you weren’t able to visit but want to get involved, please be in touch.
