Annual Meeting Recap

12/5/2025

Thank you to those who could join us, in person and remotely, at the Patten Free Library on December 2 for our 2025 Annual Meeting. We were thrilled to hear from Lee Johnson, the founder of Citizens for Squirrel Point, who shared the story how the organization was formed to fight the sale of Squirrel Point to a private party, and all the twists and turns. That's leaving out a lot of details, so we'll work with Lee to pull the story together to share here.

Chris Fox shared the financial report and Elisabeth highlighted the new footbridge, made possible through our many suppporters and the outstanding collaboration with project partners, especially The Nature Conservancy of Maine and Modern Edge Metal Fabrication of Georgetown.

Lew presented photos of our recent accomplishments as well as the damage to the bell tower foundation and the tower deck that urgently need repair. We'll know more in the months ahead and will keep you informed.

Chris Fox and Elisabeth Paine were elected to serve an additional three-year term. Other board members include Jim Arsenault, Chris Brett (both of Arrowsic), Lew Incze of Harpswell, and Caroline Kurrus of Georgetown. We thanked Brian Detwiler, who was not able to attend, for his many years of service on the board as our treasurer. We look forward to celebrating him and all of our volunteers and members in the warmer months! Stay tuned.
